THORESBY 173-5 (0 POINTS)
RETFORD 174-4 (4POINTS)
This was a game too many for Thoresby’s dads army of fielders
as a decent score proved nowhere near good enough.
Ben carried on his form of the previous week with an
excellent fifty, Chesh also got valuable time at the wicket against a decent
bowling attack . After a decent start wickets fell in the middle of the innings
and the score was a few short of what we would have hoped for.
After tea it was comedy all the way as first Nig’es bowling
and then some terrible fielding kept the crowd amused. One over saw Hazel
running with boards in his trousers , Chesh making a third long chase
only to throw the ball to Russ whose pants nearly came down. Then
out of nowhere Lee pulled off a contender for catch of the season (funny game
cricket).
In the end Retford completed an easy win with seven overs to
spare.
Although a disappointing performance it was again a game
played in a very good spirit, and the Retford lads are a decent bunch (many Blades
fans) [ed’s comment – these last two statements simply don’t go together, Nige]
who stayed and enjoyed a few pints with us
after.
