Thoresby
174-1 (4pts)
Bottesford
173-4 (0 pts)
For the second sunday
running Nige lost the toss, but this time the opposition chose to bat.
Some very good early
bowling by Chesh and Callum went unrewarded as the openers adopted a very cautious
approach, in fact the score only reached 52 at halfway. As the batsmen finally
started to play with more aggression Lee picked up the first wicket, well
caught by Marson senior ( in his first game back after retirement ).
Ben was then introduced
into the attack and bowled with great control, picking up two wickets. Unfortunately
the father and son dismissal was not effected.
Richard bowled well at the
other and also took a wicket.
In reply Thoresby got off
to the worst possible start with Richard being run out to only the fourth ball
of the innings. David joined Nige and, although they both had near misses, and
despite very good bowling by the openers, the new ball was seen off.
At this point David cut
loose, playing shots of the highest quality. Nige also started to find the gaps
and despite a few streaky shots from both batsmen they went on to exceed the
previous day’s large stand as the game was won with 6 overs to spare.
So as a club we start with
four wins out of four, let’s hope the winning streak continues!!!
