Thoresby Colliery II (18)           185 for 8 wkts

Kiveton Park II (8)                    168 for 9 wkts

A fabulous century partnership from Brian Woods and new recruit Rob Walker saved Thoresby from a less than distinguished batting start. Good work at the end from Godders and Norm ‘averaging 35, youth’ Garden helped us to full batting points.

Bullivant batted extremely well for Kiveton and, although wickets fell around him, could well have won the game almost single-handed. Only an excellent leg-side stumping by Godfrey off Chatterton took his wicket and stemmed the flow.

The bowling was then excellently managed by Woody as the pressure showed on the young Kiveton lads. Stu Evans came back at the end for a superb 3-0-3-1 spell which confounded Kiveton’s efforts to win the game. In the end their last pair batted out the last over.

A winning draw to Thoresby by 17 runs looks quite comfortable ………… but looks can be deceiving!

Full marks to the Kiveton lads who played the game in the right spirit throughout and were a credit to their club.

And of course, the teas were fantastic. How anyone can leave there with a set-up like that is a complete mystery to us!
