NOTTS. & ARNOLD AMATEURS (20)   246 for 7        (Leigh Baldry 76, Ian Flood 65, Mark North 55, Shailesh Patel 3 for 69)

THORESBY COLLIERY (7)                       241 all out     (Martin Cheshire 48, David Irvine 71, Richard Hope 35, Gareth Chapple 5 for 46)

Another nail biter, but the result going the wrong way this time.

Chesh again lost the toss and Notts had no hesitation in batting first on what was to prove a very flat pitch. Say and Naeem claimed a wicket each to remove both openers but this only brought together Flood and Baldry. There partnership was the decisive one of the game and was only broken with the fortunate dismissal of Baldry, who managed to top edge a very wide delivery from Hazel and was well caught by Naeem. Flood followed shortly, bowled by Billy as he tried to push the run rate up. North continued the good work and also registered a useful half century. Three more wickets were claimed in the closing overs as quick runs were sought.

This was a large total, but very gettable on such a good pitch and quick outfield.

Chesh and Nige made a very good start with the fifty coming up in just eleven overs, but just as they were getting us into a good position Nige fell to a poor shot. Soon after and Chesh was also on his way back to the pavilion also caught off Chapple. Naeem became the youngsters third wicket. This brought together Hazel and Steve who although living a little dangerously got the scoreboard moving. But again just as they were getting on top Steve fell to a boundary catch. Naeem and Say made little impression on the score but Rich joined Hazel to produce an excellent partnership. But the pattern of the innings continued when Hazel fell to a superb catch which again tipped the balance in Notts favour. Rich produced a flurry of runs before being bowled in the penultimate over. Callum fell with victory in sight and last man Billy fell next ball to a very tight run out.

This was obviously a very disappointing defeat but credit should be given to the team for getting so close to chasing down a large total.

So this sets up a intriguing final match against neighbours Edwinstowe. I think if we are honest we all had a feeling it would come down to this game when we saw the fixtures.
