THORESBY COLLIERY (2)           145 all out

GLAPWELL (20)                              149 for 3

This was back to the bad old Thoresby as a terrible performance saw us slip down the table.

Chesh won the toss and decided to bat on what was a very good wicket. A decent opening partnership of thirty six ensued and all looked well until Chesh got a bit greedy and was given out LBW attempting another big shot. Hazel came to the wicket but was soon run out after a mix up with Nige. Nige was then bowled by a superb slower ball from Kiwi test player O’Brien. Steve and Rich then batted very well to repair the damage, two more huge sixes from Stevie were a joy to watch. But just as they were getting the upper hand a brilliant one handed catch in the gully saw the end of Stevie. Rich fell to another good catch and the innings just folded as O’Brien returned to take three more wickets mainly with his impressive slower ball. Special mention must go to Dancing Dave’s cover drive off the said test bowler.

After an excellent tea (best cake so far) early breakthroughs were desperately needed, but this did not happen as first Graney was let off after nicking a ball behind. Then Topham was judged not out when seemingly plumb. Graney fell to a good caught and bowled by Naeem but the Glapwell batsmen all scored freely from this point to record a deserved win.
